That's darling! (Your grandmother effectively making you talk to the family sounds like something my extroverted mom would do. ) The girl sounds so cute, offering to let you hold her doll...
My grandparents and I eat out every Friday evening. Well, last night, we were about to leave when a little girl and her mom walked into the restaurant. But not JUST the little girl and her mom, but a little dolly too! The girl was carrying what looked to be an AGT with brown hair and eyes. My grandma noticed and kept telling me to go up and say hello, but I was too nervous. So, she got up and walked to their table and said, "Hello! My granddaughter has the same kind of doll you have!" I went over and said hi, and the girl said, "You can hold her if you want," holding the doll up to me. They asked which dolls I had. I told them that I had Kit, the Asian American Girl Today doll (I didn't think they'd know the numbers), Josefina, Nellie, Marisol, and Jess. The mom said that her daughter (who looked to be about 6 years old) had 4 (kind of surprised me), and asked if I had ever been to AGP. I told them yes, back in June, and they said they went last April. I noticed that the doll had the little braces on (cute!). The girl seemed really excited that I liked AG too .

Oh that is too cute Lol I don't think I would be able to go up to other people I don't know with dolls and just start talking to them It's a good thing your grandma made you, that little girl sounded so sweet!
Grin...my daughter just turned 5 and has 6 AG dolls (9 if you include her bitty baby and twins)...but part of it is because the dolls are officially hers, but it's my addiction...She's always been so good with my dolls that I don't worry about her ruining them. I can't see having two of the same doll when I want to spend my money on the clothes/accessories. Our summer project is to make AG rooms in her bedroom. My husband won't let me have dolls in our bedroom (although he is good about letting me collect them), so I'll have to sneak in to change their clothes while she's at school *grin*.
We went out to dinner last night with my daughter's best friend and her mom (my co-AG addict off-line). Becca brought Sam and Amy brought Kaya and two huskies. The waitress came over and said "I see you have Samantha...that's my name."
I guess I'm just starting her early so that we have more years of collecting...if she tires of it, I'll just take them back *mwahaha*.

I don't think I'd be able to just go talk to someone with a doll! I talk to people at AG place sometimes, but not a lot. I started collecting them when I was 5, and now I'm 16 and I have 12 of them (one for every Christmas plus a few extras that I won/bought with my own money).

She loves them, but truthfully, I would probably have them even if I didn't have a daughter *giggle*. She's just my excuse. I have a feeling that my husband will use the baby as an excuse to get a car to work on or something when he gets a little bit older (like 1 or 2). She is lucky to be the only daughter and only granddaughter of doll collectors, though.
